A bat trip at Kuhasalo 23 August

Bats are small, nocturnal mammals capable of flight. They travel by echolocation and sleep while hanging upside down.

Guided by Helena Haakana, a bat specialist, we will go to Kuhasalo to see whether we can find bats. August is the best month for bat sightings and the recommended time of the day is after sunset. Bats do not fly in the rain, so if it rains we instead gather together by the Kuhamaja to discuss bats.

We will meet by the Kuhasalo parking area at 9 pm.  The trip takes approximately 1–2 hours, and is available only for the members of Joensuun Latu. It is free of charge and no sign up is required.

We recommend you to take with either a flashlight or a headlamp, but no other gear is necessary.

For more information, contact Liisa Oura, liisa.oura@gmail.com tai p. 040 829 4239
