Lykynlampi outdoor activity center and cafeteria 

Lykynlampi cafeteria is open on 4 January to 16 March on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00 to 16.00.  On Saturday, 15 February, the cafeteria is open until 20.00 (skiing in the light of torches). The cafeteria is also open on Epiphany, Monday 6 January, and on the ski holiday week on 3-7 March every day from 11.00 to 16.00.

In the cafeteria, we sell hot and cold drinks, doughnuts, buns, fruits, sandwiches, sweets and sausages. You can also bring your own snacks and drinks. 

Showers, dressing rooms and toilets are available downstairs every day from 7 to 22.

Become a volunteer in Lykynlampi cafeteria

We need volunteers to work in the cafeteria for each day the cafeteria is open. There are different tasks to be done: selling, making coffee and tee, washing dishes, cleaning the tables etc. cafeteria work. The newcomers are guided to each task. If you prefer volunteering outdoors, join the volunteers to clear snow from the stairs of the cafeteria and the stairs to sauna. Also, we need volunteers to clean a skating route on the Lykynlampi pond. Ski waxing services in Lykynlampi

The ski waxing experts from Future Club association offer ski waxing services both for traditional and skate skis. The service is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 4 January until 16 March at 11-15. You can get prices on the spot.

Winter cycling competition 

Joensuun Latu participates in the Winter cycling competition 2025 on 1 January – 28 February.  Join the Joensuun Latu Team and enjoy winter cycling!

Winter cycling competition is a playful competition, in which all team members record the cycling kilometers. The team with the highest number of kilometers wins.

Flea market for hiking and sport equipment on 4-6 January at Lykynlampi

Do you have hiking or sport equipment that you do not need any more? Bring them to Lykynlampi to the flea market on 4-6 January! At the same time, make flea market discoveries yourself. Payments by cash or MobilePay. Card payments are not accepted.

Bring the items on Saturday 4 Jan at 10. Mark the prices for your equipment – keep the prices at such a level that you would pay yourself for used equipment.

Come to pick up your money and/or your unsold equipment On Monday, 6 Jan, by 16.00.

Exercise group for those who used to be young  

The exercising group for  those who used to be young, started in autumn, and continues in the spring! Weekly exercise in a group is a lot of fun! Exercises include e.g. wool sock walking, gym, skiing and snowshoe walking. You can participate in all of them, or join the ones, you most like. No pre-registration! 

When joining the activities, you will get an activity card. Mark in the card whenever you participate in the programme. At the end of the spring, return the card to Tuula Turunen. We’ll have a lottery for the participants with good prizes.

Wool sock running

Wool sock running is now IN! It is the winter version of barefoot running. Let’s run in wool socks together when the weather conditions are suitable. Follow the Joensuun Latu website and Facebook for times and places.

Put on several (2-3) wool socks.  The toes will not be cold!

Skiing school for adults

On 21.-22 January and on 28-29 January at 18.30–20  at Joensuu Laulurinne.

Come and learn traditional and/or skating style skiing in the skiing school for adults, organized jointly with Joensuun Hiihto-Kataja society. These skiing schools have been organized for several years, and the participants have given very good feedback.

This winter we organize two skiing schools at Joensuu Laulurinne. The first skiing school takes place in January and the other one in February. The skiing schools are both for beginners and advances skiers. The teachers in the school are the skiing coaches and instructors of Hiihto-Kataja.

If you do not have own skies, you can loan them from Hiihto-Kataja.

The minimum number of participants is five, maximum 30.

Price 80 euro for the members of Joensuu Latu or Hiihto-Kataja, for non-members 95 euro.

In case the temperature is below -15 C, or we do not have snow, the school is not organized.
