Exercise group for those who used to be young (open for all).
Info on 2 September 2024 at 18–20 in Sports Institute of Eastern Finland (ISLO)
Hey, you who used be young! Join the exercise group for those who used to be young. Exercising in a group is a lot of fun! In the group, we will test interesting forms of sport, like wool sock running, exercising in the forest, gym, swimming, biking, nordic walking, and in winter skiing and snowshoe walking, of course! These exercises are guided. You can participate in all of them, or join the ones, you most like.
In the info session on 2 September, you will hear more on this exercise group, timetable and forms of activities. You will also get an activity passport. After the in session, you can participate in a physical exercise test.
The group continues in spring 2025. At the end of the spring, we’ll have a lottery with good prizes.

Hiking in autumn colors in Korvatunturi - FULL
7-14 September 2024
This hiking week in Nuortti and Korvatunturi, where Santa lives, is demanding, an approximately 70 km long hike. Guides are Alpo Juvonen and Hannu Melin.

Introduction to orienteering on 12 September at 17-20 at Lykynlampi
Now you can learn the basics of orienteering: how to read a map and use a compass -both in theory and in practice! This course is only for members of Joensuun latu. The course price is 10 e.

Autumn foliage hiking at Petkeljärvi national park in Ilomantsi (open for all)

Orienteering hike at the east border (open for all)
20-22 September 2024 in Patvinsuo, Ilomantsi
We travel to Ilomantsi by carpools, starting at 8 am from the bus stop at the Joensuu Sports Hall (Urheilutalo in Finnish), street address: Koskikatu 12. The orienteering hike route is in Patvinsuo national park, through peatlands and hills. This hiking trip is demanding – take a mood a safe adventure with you.
Please register by 18 August. When registering, please let us know if you have a car available for the carpool. The costs of the car are shared by the carpool and paid to the driver (0,40 euro/km, the driver is not counted in when sharing costs). Those registered are invited to a info session.

Heart and trail trek on 21 September 2024
Joensuun Latu and the Finnish Heart Association, North Karelian branch, have successfully collaborated for decades. One example of collaboration is a one day “heart and trail trek”. This trek will take place again this year. More information is coming up!
The bus leaves at 8.30 from the bus stop on Kirkkokatu street, in front of Joensuu art museum. We will be back in Joensuu at 15.30 at the latest.
The price will be around 30 euro, including bus ride, guidance on the trek and coffee cooked on open fire. The payment will be collected on the bus in cash.

Hike for chaps!
23-24 September in Lieksa
Hey men, let´s go for a weekend hiking together! This time we leave ladies at home, and enjoy hiking, nature and chatting in chaps´own hiking trip.
We travel to Lieksa by carpool, leaving from Joensuu at 8 in the morning. After arriving in Lieksa, we hike approximately 8,6 km. We accommodate in Valkealampi, in a hut reserved for us. In the hut, there are beds with mattresses, but you need a sleeping bag or bed sheet with you. Please take also your own food and drinks – in this trip, you do not need to follow the nutrition and food recommendations when packing the food.
The evening programme is sauna and chaps’ chat.
Next day we will hike around 15 km.

Hike to Keihäsjoki river (open for all)
28 September 2024 in Juuka one day hike around 15 km.
During the hike, we make a campfire, if there is enough wood available and there are no restrictions for that. Please keep this in mind when packing your snack.
Please wear outdoor clothing and good shoes. Poles are recommended! The path is not very demanding – a couple of steep uphills and downhills.
We will travel to Juuka by carpool.

Hiking in Kevo
In early September, a group hiked in Kevo national park, admired the great canyon and dropped by at Kuivi fell. Participants present their hiking week and show pictures.
Cycling across Africa, part one
In January, in Cairo, Egypt, Eero Oura started the cycling adventure across Africa. After 1500 km, in Uganda, the adventure was interrupted due a crash with a motor bike. But a lot of stories to tell and pictures to show already from the first 1500 km.
